Chapter 1
CHAPTER 1: The message
‘he is such a Casanova’
‘Oh, he has girlfriends all over the place’
‘A rich brat NRI’
These and a few more things that I have heard about the person who just messaged me on Instagram. How could he find me?? (You have a bookstagram, silly, which is public, and anyone can message you)
Ah yes.. But why on earth is he messaging me ?? We barely know each other, right? I have just seen him once at my cousin’s wedding, which was also his cousin's wedding, by the way... but that was just that.
I was just staring at my phone when Lakshika, my friend with an unfiltered mouth and a great heart, asked, “Hello, madam!!! We have a class to attend, remember ??” When I showed no signs of movement, she just snatched my phone and saw a message: “Assalam o alaikum” She gave it back, not understanding anything.
I told her Who is this person messaging me and she said, “So what, he messaged you? You have a bookstagram; people msg you regarding books all the time... just reply that it's just a salam, girl. “Yes... but..” that was all I managed to say, And i felt she was right. I do get DMs from authors and other readers, but while I typed a “waalaikum assalam”, I did not know it would become a big deal one day.
Chapter 2: Confusion
There was no reply from him until dinner time, and I just avoided the feeling that I was waiting for a reply to know what on earth made him text me. Also, if he were trying to flirt with me, I would just deal with him properly.
When I was about to sleep at 10pm, I got this reply.
"It's Fariha, right?? We met at Rabia's wedding??
I scoffed..(What does he mean by we met? I have barely seen him )
"Umm... no, sorry, maybe you're mistaken", I replied.
"You are Wahida Aunty's daughter?"
"Well, yes, she is my mother and is that the reason you are texting me to know my mother's name ??" I replied, agitated.
"I'm just confirming," he said earnestly and felt ashamed.
"So, can you suggest any interesting reads to start reading? I'm not much of a reader, you know, and you are quite into books; I can see that by your Instagram," he said, and I felt a little less embarrassed.
I switched to my book girlie mode. I typed, "Well, yes, if you can tell me more about your preferences.
"Well, maybe some love stories or your favourites ?? He typed back.
We chatted for a bit about books, and that was it, and I felt light; I was just overthinking, thinking he would have fallen for me watching me in my pink saree at the wedding, and OMG whatnot
Why I always imagine myself as the centre of the universe, well maybe because I read a lot of romance...
Well, silly me.
I smiled to myself and checked the time; it's past midnight
It felt like time was running while I was replaying
To Mr.Tahir Osman.
